After launching its airport infrastructure modernization plan—particularly in preparation for the 2030 World Cup—the National Airports Office (ONDA) is now focusing on strengthening the safety of its technical staff. The office, headed by Adel El Fakir, has just issued a call for tenders for the supply of personal protective equipment (PPE) aimed at securing operations across all airports in the Kingdom.
According to documents reviewed by TelQuel, the initiative is estimated at between 10.6 million and 18 million dirhams. It is divided into three distinct lots, each corresponding to specific needs identified across various airport platforms.
The first lot involves the acquisition of so-called “standard” personal protective equipment: vests, helmets, safety shoes, protective goggles, gloves, and other gear designed to guard against the physical, chemical, and mechanical hazards commonly encountered in technical airport environments.
The second lot is dedicated to protective equipment against radiation, reflecting the attention given to international safety standards—particularly in sensitive airport zones where certain installations or screening devices may expose staff to specific risks.
The third lot involves the acquisition of additional equipment to further protect personnel from other operational hazards, thereby ensuring a work environment that meets the highest standards of occupational health and safety.
As reported by TelQuel last February, ONDA unveiled its 2025–2030 vision to modernize Morocco’s airports and support the continued growth of air traffic. The Office plans to expand several terminals, to transform Mohammed V Airport into a true regional hub by 2029, and enhance the traveler experience. This plan is based on a future transformation of ONDA into a public limited company—a key step for securing the necessary funding and attracting new partners.
